Korean Writers and Artistes in Japan Meet
Pyongyang, July 18 (KCNA) -- The 19th meeting of the Union of Korean Writers and Artists in Japan took place at the Korean Press Hall in Tokyo on June 30.

Attending it were Pae Ik Ju, vice-chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon), Kim Sang Il, its permanent member, Kim Jong Su, chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the union, and other deputies.

Read out at the meeting was a congratulatory message sent by Marshal Kim Jong Un to the 23rd Congress of Chongryon.

Kim Jong Su in his report recalled that during the period under review events for commemorating the centenary of birth of President Kim Il Sung and various literary and art events were successfully held and a lot of works powerfully encouraging compatriots in their patriotic movement were produced.

The general orientation of the work for the four years to come is to usher in a heyday in the field of literature and arts along with the new heyday of Chongryon as required by Kim Jong Un's era, he noted.

The attendants watched a video "Building flower garden of literature and arts across Japan."

Then followed speeches.

Kim Jong Su was reelected chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the union.

Pae Ik Ju in his speech called upon the writers and artistes of Chongryon to produce more new works praising the leader and the homeland and disseminate them among the compatriots and bring about a leap forward in the field of literature and arts for their happiness and future of the younger generation.

A letter to Kim Jong Un was read out at the meeting.

The meeting was followed by the first session of the 19th Central Committee of the union.
