Halt to Nuclear War Drills Demanded in S. Korea
Pyongyang, July 17 (KCNA) -- The People's Action for Peace against War in south Korea on Wednesday made public a statement denouncing the joint military drills of war maniacs, according to the south Korean internet newspaper Thongil News.

The south Korean military authorities claim that the joint drills with the U.S. nuclear carrier George Washington and other warships involved are ordinary maneuvers, but the entry of the offensive nuclear carrier itself cannot be interpreted otherwise than a hostile military action, the statement held.

It queried is there any need for the nuclear carrier to be involved in the search and rescue drill to be staged with Japan.

The military maneuvers are nothing but a demonstration of armed forces and a military action of supporting the moves of Japan for reinvasion in the light of the fact that naval activities are the main contents the Japanese government specified in the category of the exercise of the "right to collective self-defense," it said, adding:

Such military drills were staged before but the disaster of the ferry Sewol clearly proved that they were utterly ineffective.

The statement demanded the warlike forces stop at once the joint military drills.
