Prevention of Flood Damage Brisk in DPRK
Pyongyang, July 15 (KCNA) -- Prevention of flood damage has been pushed ahead in all parts of the DPRK.

The Pongchon Coal Mine under the Kaechon Area Coal-Mining Complex has successfully finished the improvement of open drainage stretching a thousand and hundreds of meters.

The Ryongdae Coal Mine under the Sunchon Area Youth Coal-Mining Complex has speeded up a drainage project at the final stage.

Coal mines in Chonnae area of Kangwon Province and northern area of the country have installed pumps and pipes and laid pipes in pits on a massive basis.

The East Pyongyang Thermal Power Plant has repaired coal yard and coal-conveying facilities.

The Ministry of Railways and railway branch bureaus in different parts of the country have been taking measures to prevent damage from landslide.

Large-scale construction projects, including the power stations in tiers on the Chongchon River, the stockbreeding base in Sepho area and the Kosan Fruit Farm have taken all necessary measures to prevent already-built structures from flood damage.

South Hamgyong Province rounded off more than 9 000 square meters of revetment project along 2.4 kilometers of road, repairing some 500 underdrains and overflow pipes and completing 500km-long road drains.

The province also finished 2 350m-long banking project against landslide as well as 3.2km-long afforestation for erosion control.

The Songchon County in South Phyongan Province carried out embankment project of the Piryu River in six months.

Farms across the country have pushed ahead with the improvement of drainages and preparations for operating pumps at full capacity, while taking full measures to prevent maize from storm damage.
