S. Korean Police Suppression of KCTU Assailed
Pyongyang, July 14 (KCNA) -- The south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) held a press conference in Seoul on July 10 and denounced the authorities for suppressing its core members.

Speakers at the conference said the Seoul District Police Agency searched the houses of the former chairman for reunification of the KCTU and the incumbent director for reunification of the KCTU.

The public security authorities charged that a book they openly published two years ago was in violation of the "Security Law", the speakers said, adding the present "government" has kicked up the coloring racket against the organization to tide over the crisis.

Finding it impossible to prove the charge with the controversial book alone, the police stormed their houses early in the morning when their families were still asleep, a human rights abuse aimed to find out another charge, speakers held.

The suppression by the present regime can never be pardoned, they warned.

Suppression will only worsen crisis and invite ruin, they stressed.
