Rodong Sinmun Calls for Achieving Reunification by Federal Formula
Pyongyang, July 14 (KCNA) -- The DPRK set forth the realistic and just proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo based on one nation, one state, two systems and two governments more than three decades ago.

Rodong Sinmun Monday says in an article:

This was prompted by the noble pro-reunification patriotic will of the DPRK that the reunification issue related to the destiny of the nation should not be delayed any longer, while putting aside the differing ideologies and social systems.

The above-said proposal for building a reunified state is the most realistic, fair and reasonable one acceptable to all classes, strata, parties and groups in the north and the south as it makes it possible to achieve the peaceful reunification of the country.

Through the historic June 15 joint declaration the north and the south recognized the commonness in the north side's proposal for low-level federation and the south side's proposal for confederation and agreed to work for reunification in this direction in the future.

As agreed in the June 15 joint declaration, the north and the south should specify the joint proposal for reunification and make efforts to carry it out and thus actively promote co-existence, co-prosperity and common interests.

If the reunification is achieved by federal formula, the nation will establish sovereignty throughout the country and achieve the great unity as a homogenous nation and it will emerge an independent and peace-loving reunified state.

The reunification by federal formula will make a positive contribution to defusing the danger of a war on the Korean peninsula and ensuring peace and security in Northeast Asia.

The reunification by federal formula is the most reasonable way for the north and the south to reunify the country in a peaceful way and achieve the co-prosperity of the nation in conformity with the will and wishes of all Koreans, no matter how the situation and circumstances may change.
