S. Korean Authorities Urged to Accept Special Proposal of DPRK
Pyongyang, July 9 (KCNA) -- The internet newspaper of Koreans in the U.S. Minjok Thongsin in a commentary on July 1 urged the south Korean authorities to accept the special proposal made by the DPRK.

The commentary said the south Korean authorities denied in fact the special proposal of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, disappointing the Koreans at home and abroad desirous of peace.

This shows, in the final analysis, that they do not have intent to improve the relations with the north, the commentary said.

The commentary recalled the assertion made by the minister of Unification of south Korea that it has exerted efforts to substantially improve the south-north ties by respecting all agreements reached between the south and the north including the July 4 joint statement and on the basis of confidence through dialogue and cooperation.

This only betrayed his ignorance of what are the contents of the July 4 joint statement and his lack of proper understanding of the principles of independence, peaceful reunification and great national unity specified in it, the commentary added.

As a matter of fact, the south Korean authorities have not adhered to the principle of independence in the south-north ties, said the commentary, and continued:

The south Korean authorities have persistently violated the principle of peaceful reunification enshrined in the July 4 joint statement.

They also designated the north as "enemy", not considering it as their counterpart with whom to achieve the great national unity.

They should accept the special proposal of the NDC of the DPRK if they truly respect the July 4 joint statement.
