Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- The DPRK's Ministry of Fisheries has carried out its first half-yearly quota at 122.4 percent, in response to the call of supreme leader Kim Jong Un for developing the nation's fishery to improve the people's livelihood as intended by Generalissimos Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.

Under his deep care, the August 25 Fishery Station took the lead in fishing last year. Encouraged by its success, all other fishery stations across the country turned out in a drive to increase the number of outings for fishing, further update the fishery and intensify aquaculture.

In the first half of this year, fishery stations run by the Korean People's Army caught tiny shrimp nearly five times the average yearly output in the past.

In a little more than two months, the fishery stations and cooperatives in the west coast under the Ministry of Fisheries caught tiny shrimp more than three times that in the same period of last year. And they caught 15,000 more tons of tiny shrimps up to June 20.

The ministry built hundreds of hectares of sea culture ground and met the yearly seaweeds quota set 1.3 times higher than last year.
