DPRK Pays Effort to Planting Evodia Daniellii
Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- The DPRK directs big efforts to creating forests of Evodia daniellii, which has been cultivated in Korea from olden times.

Under a detailed plan, relevant organs of the country have pushed the afforestation of Evodia daniellii in a mass campaign.

The Sohung County Evodia daniellii Forest Station in North Hwanghae Province established a system of cultivating saplings and supplied more than 10 tons of seeds, 1 500 000 saplings and 1 700 000 high-yielding grafted branches. The station has bred high-yielding species for last 20 years, perfecting the technology of its cultivation.

Similar stations in Kangdong County and Samsok District of Pyongyang concentrate efforts on cultivating Evodia daniellii on a scientific basis to reap more fruits this year. Meanwhile Riwon County in South Hamgyong Province created 10-odd hectares of Evodia daniellii in the spring.

In recent 10 years, more than 50 000 hectares of Evodia daniellii forest have been created throughout the country.

Oil of Evodia daniellii is used not only for food but also as raw materials for production of high-grade soap and paints.

Contained in one ton of this oil are 3.2 kilograms of natural vitamin E, and the technology of its extraction was recently developed in the country.
