S. Korean Authorities Accused of Blocking Legalization of Teachers Union
Pyongyang, June 30 (KCNA) -- The Teachers Union of south Korea held a rally at the plaza of Seoul Railway Station on June 26 to denounce the puppet group for blocking the legalization of the union.

Present there were members of the union from across south Korea including Seoul, Kyonggi Province, Inchon, Taegu, and South and North Jolla and South and North Kyongsang provinces.

At the meeting speakers said the authorities pressurize the union to remove the laid-off teachers from the list of members of the union, adding it is little short of forcing the union to lower the banner of genuine education.

A resolution was read out. It said the present regime made a decision on outlawing the union in a bid to block democratic education and create an environment favorable for the ruling forces to stay in power. It underlined the need to turn the act of rejecting the unreasonable decision made by the authorities into the one for intensifying the union.

At the end of the meeting the participants staged a demo.

That day a group made up of representatives from 16 branches of the union thrust a letter of protest demanding the withdrawal of the decision on outlawing the union and the amendment of the law on the union to Chongwadae.
