Kim Jong Il, Peerless Patriot Who Ushered in June 15 Era of Reunification
Pyongyang, June 15 (KCNA) -- 14 years have passed since the publication of the historic June 15 joint declaration.

The north-south summit, the first of its kind in the history of national division was held and the June 15 joint declaration with By Our Nation Itself as a core was published in June, Juche 89 (2000), a great event which brought a new historic change in carrying out the cause of fellow countrymen for independent reunification.

After the publication of the joint declaration leader Kim Jong Il specified the orientation and ways of implementing it and promoted the great unity of the nation with his noble virtues.

He sent delegates and delegations of the DPRK side to the south side several times and took positive measures to successfully settle the issues arising in improving the inter-Korean relations and implementing the joint declaration.

He provided the north-south summit again and the Declaration for the Development of North-South Relations and Peace and Prosperity in Pyongyang in October, 2007, solemnly declaring at home and abroad once again the nationwide will to fully apply the idea of By Our Nation Itself.

He met with delegations, personages and compatriots of south Korea visiting Pyongyang after the historic June summit and led them to take the road of patriotism, unity and reunification.

He, possessed of warm humanity and compatriotic feelings, sent Songi mushrooms of world famous Mt. Chilbo and Mt. Myohyang to officials and delegates of the ruling and opposition political parties of the south side who visited Pyongyang, making them feel the kinship of northerners and national flavor.

He was the lodestar of national reunification who led the struggle of Koreans for national unity and reunification to the road of victory and glory, and the pioneer and leader of the June 15 era of reunification.

His patriotic will and desire are being successfully carried forward by Marshal Kim Jong Un.
