Japan's Sexual Slavery Censured by Chongryon
Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- A meeting to denounce Japan's sexual slavery and hear testimonies proving it took place at a lecture hall of Korea University under the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) on June 3, according to Choson Sinbo, the organ of the Chongryon Central Standing Committee.

Present there were a member of the Secretariat of the Korean Human Rights Association in Japan, the permanent representative of the Council for the Solution of the Issue of the Volunteers Corps in south Korea and teachers and students of the university.

South Korean woman Kim Pok Dong, a victim of the sexual slavery for the Imperial Japanese Army, testified to the unethical crimes committed by the Japanese imperialists in the past.

She recalled she was taken away as a sexual slave for the Imperial Japanese Army at the age of 15 in 1941 and ruthlessly violated in Japan, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and other places.

She said she has waged a struggle to make Japan liquidate its past crimes and have victims of sexual slavery reinstated.

She referred to the pain resulting from the national split and the urgency of national reunification.

Yun Mi Hyang, permanent representative of the council, said the victims have undergone sufferings though several decades have passed, calling on the compatriots to pool efforts in the struggle to seek a solution to the issue of sexual slavery.

Prior to the meeting, teachers and students of the university watched a video dealing with the shuddering crimes committed by the Japanese imperialists against humanity and the actions to have the issue of sexual slavery settled.
