Minju Joson Observes World Environment Day
Pyongyang, June 5 (KCNA) -- Minju Joson Thursday dedicates an article to World Environment Day.

Introducing the work for environmental protection in the DPRK, the article notes:

Pursuant to the policy for environmental protection enforced by the government of the DPRK which regards man as the most valuable being in the world, the Law on Environmental Protection was adopted in the country long ago and a dynamic work has been done to fully meet its provisions.

Various measures have been taken by the state to conserve forests, prevent contamination of rivers and decrease greenhouse gas emissions.

Many foreign visitors to the DPRK are unanimous in saying that its cities are kept clean and air is pure.

Of course, there still remain problems pending solution in the field of environmental protection.

It is hard to completely solve the issue of the protection of global environment by the efforts of a few countries.

Concerted efforts of mankind alone can protect the environment of the earth and ensure its sustained development.

The government of the DPRK will as ever creditably fulfill its national obligation to protect the global environment in cooperation with international bodies.
