S. Korean Workers Launch Sit-in Strike
Pyongyang, June 5 (KCNA) -- Members of the crane operators' branch in South Jolla Province of construction trade union launched a sit-in strike on a steel tower in protest against the management's crackdown upon them on June 2 in Ryosu, South Jolla Province of south Korea, according to south Korean newspaper Nodong and Segye.

The branch formed in October last year proposed negotiations to the management side, demanding it cut down working hours, ensure rest and stabilize employment of crane operators.

However, the management side turned down their demand but dismissed core members of the trade union. Moreover, it closed their workshop and axed 15 other members recently.

Members of the branch are staging sit-in strike on a steel tower in protest against the management side as it is keen on stamping out the trade union in utter disregard of the workers' right to existence.

The construction trade union declared that it would sponsor a protest meeting of workers from across South Jolla Province in the scene of the sit-in strike on June 5 and stage actions together with all construction workers from across south Korea on June 11.
