All-People Candlelight Rally Held in Seoul
Pyongyang, June 4 (KCNA) -- An all-people candlelight rally took place at Chonggye Plaza in Seoul on May 31 in protest against the Park Geun Hye group's mass killings of people, according to the south Korean internet paper Thongil News. It was sponsored by the All-People Measure Council of Ferry Sewol Disaster comprising more than 800 civic and public organizations.

Attending it were more than 10 000 people from all walks life.

At the rally speakers denounced the "government" and the "Saenuri Party" for failing to make a thorough probe into the truth about the disaster, indifferent to the candlelight actions of people of all social standings.

A woman who lost her daughter due to the disaster declared she would not halt the 10 million-people signature campaign demanding a thorough probe into the truth about the disaster and punishment of those responsible.

Pak Ju Min, secretary general of the Bar Association for Democratic Society, said accidents are occurring one after another at a time when people are grieved over the ferry Sewol disaster, adding that those responsible for the disaster should be sternly punished.

Rev. Jo Hon Jong accused the "government" of trying to get rid of the crisis caused by the disaster.

Yun Hui Suk, representative of the Youth Solidarity, said the number of the participants in the signature campaign reached over 780 000, noting that not only families receiving signatures but citizens signing are conducting the campaign in tears.

At the end of the rally the participants staged demos in streets of Seoul.

A large-scale anti-"government" candlelight rally was also held in Kyonggi Province.
