DPRK FM Speaks at NAM Meeting
Pyongyang, May 30 (KCNA) -- Ri Su Yong, minister of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK who is heading a delegation of the DPRK, made a speech at the conference of foreign ministers of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) on Wednesday.

He said that the NAM requires increasing its role by intensifying joint actions based on unity and solidarity of its member nations, clarifying the stand of the DPRK delegation in this regard.

The NAM member nations should further boost unity, solidarity, support and cooperation in the struggle to defend the sovereignty and the NAM should intensify the joint actions to protect its collective interests as regards major international issues by adhering to the strategy of unity and solidarity, he said, and went on:

The DPRK government has made consistent efforts to develop the NAM in line with the goal of its founding and principles of its activities in the idea of foreign policy -- independence, peace and friendship-- as its member nation.

President Kim Il Sung's and leader Kim Jong Il's idea of strengthening the NAM and their exploits are being successfully carried forward by Marshal Kim Jong Un.

Unstable situation, neither war nor peace, persists on the Korean Peninsula amid the daily increasing military threats from the U.S. The U.S. and south Korean authorities are becoming evermore undisguised in their moves to stifle the DPRK and nuclear war exercises.

The people of the DPRK are now keeping highly alert and making sincere and tireless efforts for peace and detente on the Korean peninsula with maximum patience.

The situation prevailing on the peninsula goes to prove that it is possible to protect justice and peace and push forward the cause of global independence only when a country remains strong and the way of independence and Songun chosen by the DPRK is entirely just.

The DPRK government will as ever invariably preserve the noble idea and principle of the NAM and make all efforts for its development.
