Brisk Silkworm-Raising in DPRK
Pyongyang, May 29 (KCNA) -- Silkworm-raising is progressing apace among women's union organizations and members across the DPRK.

The South Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the Democratic Women's Union of Korea is pushing ahead with silkworm-raising on the basis of the experience in which all cities and counties in the province overfulfilled their plans for cocoon production over the past ten years.

The North and South Phyongan, Kangwon and North Hwanghae provincial committees of the women's union focused their forces on creating mulberry fields.

The Ryongsong District Committee of Pyongyang City of the women's union created 25 hectares of mulberry fields and is registering great achievements in the production of mulberry leaves.

The Unchon County Committee of the women's union is thoroughly ensuring numbers of mulberry trees per hectare and manuring and tending them well.

The Songhwa County Committee of the women's union is paying its primary efforts to raising the fertility of soil.

Members of the women's union in Sonchon County are creating a young mulberry plants field by their own efforts and introducing the advanced method of raising seedlings and thus producing tens of thousands of new variety of mulberry seedlings every year.

Organizations of the women's union in Anju, Kusong and Munchon cities, Hwangju and Jongphyong counties and Kangso District are effecting a great surge in cocoon production.

Women's union organizations across the country are pushing forward the work to conduct silkworm-raising to meet the scientific and technological requirement.
