Anniversary of Kwangju Popular Uprising Observed in Seoul
Pyongyang, May 21 (KCNA) -- South Korean organizations of various circles held a rally in the Kwanghwamun plaza in Seoul on May 18 to mark the 34th anniversary of the Kwangju Popular Uprising, according to the south Korean internet newspaper Thongil News.

The participants honored the memory of Kwangju fighters for independence, democracy and reunification and the schoolchildren buried at the seabed.

Speakers deplored that the history of south Korea is characterized by events of tragic death and its people have so far suffered from the trend of disregarding human lives.

They held that the Park Geun Hye "regime" like the successive dictatorial "regimes" is a brutal one which may kill and sacrifice the lives of the people anytime for maintaining power as it is machinery for dominating them.

The recent ferry Sewol sinking disaster brought to light the incompetence and irresponsibility of the "government".

They called upon all participants to deter the present "government" from going against history in a bid to revive "yusin," being greedy for power, utterly indifferent to the people's life.

They called for turning out in actions to prevent the recurrence of the disaster, not forgetting the souls of the Kwangju uprisers and the death of Danwon High School students.
