40th Anniversary of Korean Committee for Solidarity with World People Marked
Pyongyang, May 18 (KCNA) -- A meeting took place here on Saturday to mark the 40th founding anniversary of the Korean Committee for Solidarity with the World People.

Present there were leading officials of the Committee and members of its Secretariat, officials of public organizations including the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League, the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea, the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea and the Democratic Women's Union of Korea, citizens and honorary guests.

A report and speeches were made at the meeting.

The reporter and speakers recalled the diverse solidarity activities the Committee has conducted for the last 40 years to ease tension on the Korean Peninsula and achieve its independent and peaceful reunification and ensure peace and stability in Northeast Asia and the rest of the world.

They said that the Korean people's struggle for national reunification and peace has faced a difficulty due to the touch-and-go situation caused by the unprecedented nuclear war moves of the U.S. and its followers in the Korean Peninsula, the biggest hotspot in the world.

They called upon the independence- and peace-loving progressives, international democratic organizations, committees for support to Korea's reunification and solidarity organizations the world over to have a correct understanding of the present situation and thus resolutely reject the U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK and take active part in the struggle for peace and stability in the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia and the rest of the world and the prosperity of mankind.

The meeting discussed the matters arising in intensifying the solidarity movement with the world people as demanded by the mission of the Committee and the prevailing situation.

At the end of the meeting, its participants looked round photos showing the activities of the Committee.
