Rescue Operation for Victims of Ferry Sewol Sinking Disaster Interrupted in S. Korea
Pyongyang, May 18 (KCNA) -- South Korean KBS on May 14 exposed that a rescue operation for the victims of the ferry Sewol sinking disaster was interrupted due to a ceremony for puppet public officials.

A lawmaker from the Democratic Alliance for New Politics on the same day opened to public telephone call records between the room 119 of agency for firefighting and disaster prevention and the Mokpho maritime police right after the occurrence of the accident.

According to the records, the chief of the room forced the maritime police to direct primary efforts to offering convenience to bureaucrats who came to meet the victims.

The lawmaker charged that the room gave priority to holding a ceremony for showing high-ranking officials those rescued, not to rescuing the victims.

The call records will spark off great furor in the future as they showed why the society for public officials should be changed, KBS reported.
