Those Concerned of Ferry Sewol Sinking Accident Urged to Make Declaration of Conscience
Pyongyang, May 17 (KCNA) -- The Solidarity for Democracy, People's Life, Peaceful Reunification and Sovereignty of south Korea made public an appeal on May 13 urging those concerned of the ferry Sewol sinking accident to make a declaration of conscience for probing the truth about the accident.

The appeal demanded those concerned of the "government", Intelligence Service (IS), maritime police and ferry Sewol probe the truth about the accident.

The "government", the arch criminal of the disaster, is styling itself a judge, the appeal said, and went on:

The captain of the ferry ran away before anyone else after instructing passengers to stay calm.

Other crewmen hastily changed their clothes and ran away with the captain. The maritime police rescued the captain and crewmen, not passengers. Almost civilian fishing boats rescued passengers from the sea.

It is necessary to bring to light whether communications records just before the ferry sinking remain or not. There is a clue to clarifying why the ferry sank and if there was any issue at the early phase of the regime's reaction.

Those concerned of Chongwadae, ministries and agencies and staff members of the IS should also probe the truth behind the disaster.

The director of the Maritime Police Agency has never issued an official order for rescue operation.

A prosecutor, who was charged with the concealment of the truth about the Ryongsan disaster, was appointed as head of the joint investigation headquarters.

Those concerned of the accident should neither become conspirators in killing for their living nor sell their conscience so that they do not feel ashamed before their children and rising generation.

In order to prevent recurrence of such disaster, it is prerequisite to probe the truth about the accident and punish those responsible for it, the appeal said, adding those concerned of the accident should make a declaration of conscience, though belatedly.
