Medium Waves Therapy for Liver Cancer Established in DPRK
Pyongyang, May 13 (KCNA) -- A therapy for hepatoma by medium waves has been recently established in the health service of the DPRK.

Pyongyang Medical College Hospital of Kim Il Sung University introduced this therapy in treating a hepatoma of less than 3 centimeters, having 96 percent efficacy.

Mun Yon Hwa, a section chief of the tumor research room at the hospital, told KCNA:

The therapy is carried out by a high-tech device with capacity of producing 1.5 MHz of medium waves.

According to its application in clinical practices, the treatment device ensured 99 percent of recovery rate among cases with hepatoma when it was early detected within one year, 86 percent within three years and 64 percent within five years.

It makes it possible to remove cancer cell totally through one or two operation by infiltrating its treatment electrode into tumor tissue.

This device produces high efficacy in treatment of tumor tissue and gives no effect on other tissues.

At present, a research is being intensified to further improve its performance and extend the sphere of its application.
