High-yielding Fruit Tree Planting Brisk in DPRK
Pyongyang, May 12 (KCNA) -- A campaign for planting high-yielding fruit trees in spring was launched in the DPRK.

According to data available, dwarf apple, pear, plum, peach, apricot and other fruit trees have been planted in several thousand hectares of areas throughout the country.

The Kosan Fruit Farm created a new orchard of several hundred hectares through the campaign.

Fruit farms in Pukchong County planted hundreds of thousands of apple, pear and peach trees, with provision of 100 tons of quality compost, while those in Pyongyang and Kusong cities and Hwangju, Jangyon and Samchon counties respectively created tens of hectares of orchards.

In another development, co-op farms across the country have stepped up the works to replace the existing fruit trees with high-yielding ones and properly combine early-ripening fruit species with long-season ones.

Such works were carried out in 500-odd hectares of orchards in North Hwanghae Province and in several hundred hectares in North Phyongan Province.
