Japan Urged to Liquidate Crimes Related to Sexual Slavery
Pyongyang, April 20 (KCNA) -- Members of at least 500 civic and public organizations in south Korea including the Council for the Solution of the Issue of the Volunteers Corps and victims to the sexual slavery for the Imperial Japanese Army held a meeting in Seoul on April 17 urging Japan to liquidate the crimes related to sexual slavery, according to Thongil News, an internet paper of south Korea.

A written request addressed to Japanese and south Korean authorities was released at the meeting.

Referring to the ongoing talks between Japan and south Korea on the issue of sexual slavery, it said that the talks should not be used for an excuse to find out a diplomatic channel.

The south Korean authorities should not accept any scheme to decrease the responsibility of the Japanese government, talking about any humanitarian step, it held.

It said that the international community defined Japan's past sexual slavery as an organized war crime against humanity and has long demanded the Japanese government admit the crime and make an apology and reparation for it. But the Japanese government is turning its back on this, distorting history and evade the blame, it noted, adding:

To settle the issue of sexual slavery for the Imperial Japanese Army is the world's demand of the times which brooks no further delay.

The Japanese government should open to public all data on the crimes related to sexual slavery, officially admit them and make an apology and reparation for them.

The south Korean authorities should have a correct attitude and stand on settling the issue of sexual slavery.
