Struggle for Independence, Democracy and Reunification Called for in S. Korea
Pyongyang, April 11 (KCNA) -- Members of reunification movement organizations and civic and public organizations held a memorial service for Ri Jong Rin, former honorary chairman of the South Headquarters of the Pan-National Alliance for Korea's Reunification, in Seoul on April 7, according to the south Korean internet newspaper Thongil News. The organizations included members of the Reunification Meeting, the Association for Supporting Prisoners of Conscience of the Family Movement for Realizing Democracy, the Society of April Revolution, the People for Achieving Peace and Reunification and the Solidarity for Progress of south Korea.

Speakers at the service recalled that he made a positive contribution to the struggle for the reunification of the nation.

Noting that he waged an indomitable struggle despite ceaseless arrests, imprisonments, harsh suppressions and ordeals, the speakers said they could never forget Ri who took the lead in a hunger strike for the repeal of the "Security Law" though he was at the advanced age.

The present chief executive is obsessed with daydream of "unification by absorption" contrary to the reality in which an atmosphere is being created for the reunion of separated families and relatives in the south and the north, they said, and went on:

The U.S. is busy inciting confrontation between Koreans and escalating the military tension on the Korean peninsula.

The reunification movement organizations including the South Headquarters of the Pan-National Alliance for Korea's Reunification and civic and public organizations will dynamically struggle for independence, democracy and reunification following the spirit of the honorary chairman.
