U.S. Slammed for Straining Situation on Korean Peninsula
Pyongyang, March 26 (KCNA) -- A commentary titled "Who is escalating situation on the Korean peninsula?" was carried by the March issue of the Bulgarian paper Iskra.

The commentary said the U.S. and the south Korea have staged large-scale joint military exercises on the Korean peninsula every year.

Western media are misleading pubic opinion as if the DPRK was rendering the situation strained.

The U.S. is deploying a large number of aggressive forces and ultra-modern military hardware in south Korea.

The U.S.-south Korean joint military exercises are aimed firstly to round off the war scenario against the DPRK.

There is no guarantee that the exercises will not spill over to a real attack.

No one knows, except the U.S. and south Korean authorities, when the real attack will start.

They are aimed secondly to bar the DPRK from developing the economy.

The DPRK is compelled to direct much manpower and material resources to the defence capabilities to defend itself. It is not secrecy that doing so is a burden to the development of the country's economy.

The DPRK has nuclear weapons and strong military power to cope with the U.S. nuclear threats and hostile policy but has never invaded other country.

It is working hard only to build a thriving nation by its own efforts.

The U.S. should face up to the situation, roll back its hostile policy toward the DPRK and stop at once the large-scale war exercises.
