65th Anniversary of National Peace Committee of Korea Marked
Pyongyang, March 25 (KCNA) -- A meeting took place here on Monday to mark the 65th anniversary of the National Peace Committee of Korea (NPCK).

Present at the meeting were members of the NPCK Standing Committee, representatives of Pyongyang City and local committees and honorary guests.

A report was made at the meeting to be followed by speeches.

The reporter and speakers referred to various forms of anti-war activities for peace the committee has conducted over the past 65 years as part of efforts to ease tensions in the Korean Peninsula, achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country and defend peace and security in the Northeast Asian region and the rest of the world.

They said that the danger of war is mounting in the peninsula, due to the anachronistic hostile policy towards the DPRK pursued by the U.S. and its followers.

The meeting called upon progressive non-governmental international organizations and pro-peace organizations in different countries to take active part in the struggle for peace and reunification of Korea with correct understanding of the present situation.

The meeting discussed the issues to invigorate the NPCK activities in the coming days.

It deliberated on and approved the amended organizational rules and elected new leading members of the committee.

After the meeting, the participants looked round the photos displayed to show the committee's activities and appreciated an art performance.
