Younger sister Rim Un Sim bagged three gold medals in the women's 58 kg division of the 2014 Asian Junior and Juvenile Weightlifting Championship held in Thailand on March 10, with lift of 93 kg in snatch and 113 kg in jerk, 206 kg in total. She came second in the total of women's 53 kg category at the 2013 World Juvenile Weightlifting Championship.

Elder sister Rim Jong Sim took the women's 69 kg title at the 2012 London Olympiad and set new records at the 6th East Asian Games.

She also won the title at the 2013 Asian Cup and Interclub Junior and Senior Weightlifting Championship held in Pyongyang and was selected as one of the country's ten best athletes for 2012.

The sisters, active at the Kigwancha Sports Team, are now filled with resolve to further glorify the honor of the DPRK at international tournaments.
