University Part-time Workers Go on General Strike
Pyongyang, March 6 (KCNA) -- University part-time workers in Seoul under the Seoul, Kyongin branch of the Public Transport Trade Union of south Korea went on a general strike on Monday, according to the south Korean internet paper Voice of People.

It was participated in by part-time workers of 14 universities including Korea University, Kyunghee University, Yonsei University, Ehwa Women's University, Sogang University, Hongik University and Duksong Women's College.

They held a meeting at Korea University.

Speakers said there that the oppressed part-time workers almost at all universities in Seoul turned out in their actions to declare that they are no longer slaves but human beings.

They urged the universities' sides to meet the demands of workers including stable employment, wage hike and improved labor conditions.

The internet paper Voice of People on Tuesday carried an editorial in support of the general strike of the part-time workers.

The editorial said:

Universities and hiring bodies signed modern day slave contracts, threatening the part-time workers' right to existence.

It was quite natural that the workers went on a general strike.

Universities' sides should stop actions of bringing profits to the hiring bodies and guarantee the part-time workers' right to existence.
