C. P. Mainali, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Nepal Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist), said this in a statement issued on February 17 on the occasion of the birth anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il.

He said:

Kim Jong Il grew up in the crucible of the anti-Japanese war and the Fatherland Liberation War.

He developed in depth the Juche idea and pursued the great Songun politics.

The socialist cause faced big difficulties and challenges in the closing period of the last century.

The imperialists and reactionaries made much fuss over the "end of socialism" with the setback of socialism in the East European countries as a motive.

But the DPRK turned into the most powerful socialist state, demonstrating the invincible might, quite contrary to the anticipation of the imperialists. This is the fruition of the Songun politics pursued by Kim Jong Il.

He was the great statesman who smashed the moves of the imperialist allied forces to stifle the DPRK, further cemented the single-minded unity, bolstered up strong defence capability and turned the DPRK into a socialist fortress that no force dares provoke by pursuing his unique Songun politics.

He is boundlessly revered by not only the Korean people but the world people for his great Songun politics and exploits.
