Mushroom Cultivation Brisk in DPRK
Pyongyang, February 21 (KCNA) -- Mushroom cultivation is gaining momentum throughout the DPRK.

A mushroom cultivation institute was built last year, thus enabling the mushroom cultivation to be put on an industrial and scientific basis.

Mushroom farms with large production capacity have been set up in all provinces, cities, counties and districts.

In South Hamgyong Province, even co-op farms have built spore culture rooms, with Tongbong Co-op Farm in Hamju County as a model.

The Mangyongdae District School for Nursery Teachers in Pyongyang has produced mushroom in all seasons from 10 years ago.

The Toksong Coal Mine in Tokchon City is well-known for mass producing mushroom by effective use of waste heat from a bath boiler.

The Unpha Mine has mass produced mushroom in an abandoned pit while the Haksu Co-op Farm in Taedong County succeeded in applying an open-air cultivation.

The family of Mun Hye Sun, living in Sariwon City, North Hwanghae Province, cultivated a lot of mushroom with the biggest one weighing 20kg last year.

Marshal Kim Jong Un in his New Year Address underscored the need to launch the campaign for cultivating mushroom on a large scale.

In response to his New Year Address, the mushroom farm in Nampho City began culturing spore, while the Kangso Mushroom Farm harvested one ton of mushroom some days ago.

Pukwon Co-op Farm in Kaechon City set the goal at producing 50 tons every year. And many other units in the country are active in mushroom cultivation.
