Day of Shining Star Marked Abroad
Pyongyang, February 20 (KCNA) -- Events took place in different countries on the occasion of the birth anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il (Day of the Shining Star).

A seminar, book exhibition and film show were held in Nakhodka of Russia, a meeting and film show in Lahore of Pakistan and a meeting and photo exhibition in Reykjavik of Iceland on February 8 and 9.

Displayed at the venues of the events were photos documenting exploits of Kim Jong Il and supreme leader Kim Jong Un.

Exhibited there were works of peerlessly great men of Mt. Paektu and books and photos introducing the Korean people's efforts to build an economic power.

The participants watched the Korean films including "Frostwork and golden larch leaves on Mt. Paektu" in the film shows.

Zelenov, first secretary of the Nakhodka City Committee of the Maritime Territory of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, praised Kim Jong Il for turning the DPRK into an invincible socialist power through his outstanding Songun leadership.

Reporter and speakers including Mohammad Aslam Nagi, secretary general of the Lahore Branch of the Pakistan-Korea Friendship Association praised him for developing the Workers' Party of Korea into the party of President Kim Il Sung, building the DPRK as a political and ideological and military power and fully demonstrating the independent dignity of the country.

Jon Arni Halldorsson, general secretary of the Iceland-DPRK Friendship and Cultural Society, said that Kim Jong Il is alive in the hearts of the progressive mankind as he performed great exploits before the era and the history.

A message to Kim Jong Un was adopted at the meeting held in Pakistan.
