Birth Anniversary of Kim Jong Il Observed by Foreign Newspapers
Pyongyang, February 18 (KCNA) -- Newspapers of various countries carried special write-ups to mark the birth anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il.

The February issue of the German paper Rote Fahne carried an article illustrated with a portrait of smiling Kim Jong Il, which said:

Kim Jong Il, eternal chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, is always alive in the hearts of the Korean people and progressive humankind.

He left nothing for himself but made ceaseless tours of field guidance in simple jumper all his life.

He made sure that monuments and statues were erected for the people who made great contributions to the country and people but didn't allow the erection of his statue.

The Korean people are leading a happy life in a great family, holding him in high esteem as their father.

A Russian personage praised Kim Jong Il, who always thought of the homeland and people even during his foreign tours, as a leader who worked heart and soul only for the happiness of people.

Thanks to his tireless devotion, socialism in the DPRK has been firmly protected and the Korean people could work miracles and innovations in the building of a thriving nation.

The Indonesian paper Republica on Feb. 11 in an article titled "Man who believed in people as in Heaven" said Kim Jong Il set it as the most important affair and supreme goal to improve the people's standard of living and provided ceaseless field guidance to materialize the ideal of the people.

A Hungarian paper on Feb. 13 in an article titled "Kim Jong Il, destiny of the DPRK and socialism" praised his undying Songun leadership exploits for the country and revolution.
