Joint National Meeting of KCU Organizations Held
Pyongyang, February 16 (KCNA) -- A joint national meeting of the Korean Children's Union (KCU) organizations was held here on Sunday to celebrate the 72nd birth anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il.

Present there were provincial delegates of the KCU, schoolchildren in the city and those pupils expected to join the KCU.

Present there on invitation were Choe Thae Bok, Yang Hyong Sop, officials of party organs and the youth league in the city, officials concerned, war veterans and persons of merit.

Jon Yong Nam, chairman of the C.C., the youth league, said in his report that Kim Jong Il showed profound loving care for the members of the KCU so that they might bring their talents into full bloom, learning to their heart's satisfaction with nothing to desire more in the world.

The reporter recalled that Marshal Kim Jong Un, carrying forward Kim Jong Il's noble love for the rising generations, showed loving care for the members of the KCU to be always remembered by them.

He told all KCU members to firmly prepare themselves as reliable reserves for the Songun revolutionary cause remaining true to the leadership of Kim Jong Un.

Then there took place an accession ceremony of the KCU at the meeting.

Led by Choe Thae Bok, member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the C.C., the Workers' Party of Korea, pupils made an oath before joining the KCU.

Officials, war veterans and persons of merit put red ties around their necks and pinned badges of the KCU on their chests.

The new KCU members made their first salute, responding to the slogan "Always Ready for the Socialist Motherland!"

Congratulatory speeches were made by O Ryong Thaek, rector of Mangyongdae Revolutionary School, Pang Sung Son, principal of Pyongyang Secondary School No. 1, and Om Yun Chol, labor hero and people's sportsman.
