Overseas Koreans Call for Improved Inter-Korean Relations
Pyongyang, February 13 (KCNA) -- Overseas Koreans organizations and overseas Koreans are calling for putting an end to the history of national division and paving a wide avenue for improving the north-south relations by concerted efforts of the Koreans.

A vice-chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan, said in order to settle the country's reunification issue in line with the aspiration and wishes of the fellow countrymen it is necessary to firmly adhere to the standpoint of By Our Nation Itself and create a climate for mending relations between the north and the south.

The General Association of Koreans in China, the Shenyang City and Hailin City branches of the association and the Youth Federation of Korean Nationals in China in their statements warmly hailed and fully supported the crucial proposal and open letter of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK as very just and patriotic reunification proposal which reflected the aspiration of all fellow countrymen for national security, peace and prosperity and the demand of the times.

Minjok Sibo, a newspaper of Koreans published in Japan, in an article said that whoever thinks of the life and security of the people can not reject the crucial proposal of the north, demanding the south Korean authorities respond to it as early as possible.

The Central Association of Korean Nationals in Russia in a statement urged the south Korean authorities to clarify whether they are willing to improve the inter-Korean relations or persistently pursuing confrontation with fellow countrymen by toeing the U.S. line.

The chairman of the United Confederation of Koreans in Ukraine said that overseas Koreans will make positive contributions to the patriotic efforts to improve the inter-Korean relations and achieve peace on the Korean peninsula.

The head of the Uruk Symphony Orchestra, an art troupe of Koreans in the U.S., in an article posted on Minjok Thongsin, internet newspaper of Koreans in the U.S., urged the south Korean authorities to lend an ear to voices of fellow countrymen desirous of national reconciliation and peace and opt for mending the inter-Korean relations.

The European Regional Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification and the Society for Cooperation among Koreans in Germany called for rejecting foreign forces, the cancer-like being laying in the way of national reunification, firmly adhere to the standpoint of By Our Nation Itself and turn out as one in the efforts to mend the inter-Korean relations.
