January 15th of Lunar Year, Koreans' Folk Holiday
Pyongyang, January 13 (KCNA) -- From olden times, the Korean people have celebrated January 15th of the lunar year as a folk holiday.

On the evening of the day, Koreans have enjoyed the full moon.

It has been said that moon viewing that day is associated with a desire of Koreans for rich harvest and happiness.

The day has also distinguished itself from other folk holidays for its national dishes. Among the dishes are boiled rice admixed with four other staple cereals, sweet rice dish, laver-wrapped rice and cuisines of 9 dried edible herbs.

Meanwhile, kite-flying, tug of war and other folk games have been popular in the holiday.

This year, February 14 is equivalent to January 15th of the lunar year.
