Snow, Ice Sculpture Festival Under Way
Samjiyon, February 12 (KCNA) -- A snow and ice sculpture festival commemorating the birth anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il is under way in Samjiyon County, Ryanggang Province.

More than 400 snow and ice sculptures are on display in the festival. They were made by members of the Ministry of People's Security group under the 618 Construction Shock Brigade and working people of the county.

Among the sculptures are those depicting Kim Jong Il's birthplace in the secret camp in Mt. Paektu and Jong Il Peak with a portrait of smiling Kim Jong Il in the center and large ice flower vases of Kimjongilia. They represent loyalty of all service personnel and people to Kim Jong Il.

Sculptures "With invincible might of powerful revolutionary Paektusan army" and "Carrying forward the soul of Mt. Paektu" make a truthful formative artistic depiction of the indomitable spirit of the army devotedly defending Supreme Commander Kim Jong Un.

There are also sculptures depicting the Masikryong Ski Resort, Munsu Water Park and Mirim Riding Club which were successfully built last year and a sculpture showing a panoramic view of the Sepho Plateau now being turned into a large stockbreeding base.

Among them are also miniatures of the Pegaebong Noodle House and the Samjiyon Schoolchildren's Palace, etc. and group of subsidiary theme sculptures of the Samjiyon Grand Monument and new appearance of the Junghung Plateau being turned into a big potato producer.

The festival was visited by Jang Jong Nam, Choe Thae Bok, Kwak Pom Gi and officials of party, armed forces, working people's organizations, ministries and national institutions, service personnel of the Korean People's Army and the Korean People's Internal Security Forces and people from all walks of life on Wednesday.
