The Feb. 4th issue of Komsomolskaya Pravda in an article titled "Greatest Exploit" said:

Born as son of guerillas, Kim Jong Il grew up to be a great revolutionary with the firm determination to glorify Korea and performed great exploits on behalf of the country and its people through his energetic revolutionary activities.

It was his greatest exploit that he honorably defended socialist Korea by pursuing his original Songun politics and turned the DPRK into a politico-ideological and military power and a nuclear weapons state.

Noting that changes which have taken place in the DPRK clearly prove once again the validity and vitality of Songun politics, the paper stressed that Kim Jong Il was, indeed, the great sun of Songun Korea who defended the sovereignty of the country and paved a way for prosperity and demonstrated the national dignity before the whole world by dint of Songun.

The Feb. 5th issue of Nakhodkinski Rabochi said:

Kim Jong Il successfully carried forward the Songun idea adhered to by President Kim Il Sung in the whole course of the Korean revolution.

He started his Songun revolutionary leadership with his on-the-spot inspection of Seoul Ryu Kyong Su Guards 105th Tank Division of the Korean People's Army on August 25, 1960 and ceaselessly made the journey of the leadership till the last moments of his life. In those days he developed in depth the Songun idea through his energetic ideological and theoretical activities.
