It is Steadfast Will of DPRK to Protect Peace: Rodong Sinmun
Pyongyang, February 12 (KCNA) -- It is the firm stand and will of the DPRK to defuse the tension on the Korean peninsula in order to achieve a lasting peace, says Rodong Sinmun in an article on Wednesday.

It went on:

To remove a danger of war and keep peace on the peninsula is essential both for the destiny of the Korean nation and for the prospect of the north-south relations.

Peace is priceless to every nation, and it is dearer to the Koran nation that has lived in danger of war for more than half a century.

The war disaster that the nation experienced during the 1950-53 Korean War is what all Koreans can not still forget.

If another war breaks out on the peninsula, it will lead to a nuclear war, and it is the Korean nation that is to suffer the worst disaster.

Peace is a prerequisite to mending the inter-Korean ties.

It is crystal clear to all that distrust can never be removed and dialogue and cooperation can not take place in such a situation where one side resorts to military saber-rattling to threaten the other side.

Unless a peaceful atmosphere is created in the peninsula, it is not possible to expect the reconciliation and unity between the north and the south of Korea nor is it possible to expect them to advance towards the reunification hand in hand.

Peace can never be achieved by efforts of one side only.

Only when the south Korean authorities positively respond to the sincere efforts of the fellow countrymen in the north, can the efforts of the DPRK for peace come to fruition.
