Preparations for Int'l Figure Skating Festival Brisk in DPRK
Pyongyang, February 11 (KCNA) -- Preparations for the 23rd Paektusan Prize International Figure Skating Festival have gained momentum in the DPRK.

The festival is an annual event to mark the Day of the Shining Star (Feb. 16), leader Kim Jong Il's birthday.

The venue of the festival is being decorated with various colors of electric lighting, with its equipment and facilities updated.

Figure skating coaches and creators of the Mass Gymnastic Production Company are directing big efforts to preparing all programs on a high level.

Sportswear has also been remodeled in a fashionable way.

Meanwhile, figure skaters are further intensifying training to perform high-grade movements.

In this regard, Ri Chol Un, an official concerned, told KCNA:

The upcoming festival is expected to be bigger than the previous one.

Figure skaters from Russia, Belarus, Italy, Uzbekistan and other countries have made applications for the festival. Most of them have proved successful at national and international tournaments.

The festival will also include a demonstration performance by DPRK and foreign players.

The festival will run from Feb. 15 to 17.
