Austrian Organization Urges S. Korean Authorities to Cancel Projected War Drills against DPRK
Pyongyang, February 10 (KCNA) -- The Austrian Solidarity Committee of Trade Union Members for Peaceful Reunification of Korea sent a protest letter on Jan. 29 to the south Korean authorities rejecting the crucial proposal made by the National Defence Commission of the DPRK.

Saying the committee hails the crucial proposal, the letter noted:

For the Korean nation suffering agony due to its territorial division, it is necessary to take a measure for building confidence through peaceful dialogue, instead of resorting to war moves and seeking constant arms build-up.

We urge the south Korean authorities to accept the just proposal made by the DPRK, push forward the inter-Korean dialogue and cancel the projected war drills targeting the compatriots in the north.

The future behavior of the south Korean authorities will show whether they truly hope for dialogue, peace and reunification of the Korean peninsula or not.

Progressive trade union members affiliated to the World Federation of Trade Unions will closely watch the future development.
