Stop to Planned Military Drills Urged by Koreans' Newspaper in Japan
Pyongyang, February 5 (KCNA) -- Minjok Sibo, Koreans' newspaper in Japan, on Feb. 1 carried an article urging the south Korean authorities to cancel the joint military drills which they are going to stage with the U.S. and opt for improving the relations with the north.

The article recalled that the National Defence Commission of the DPRK sent the south Korean authorities a crucial proposal calling for paving a wide avenue for improving the inter-Korean relations by concerted efforts of all Koreans in the idea of By Our Nation Itself.

The crucial proposal underlined the need to completely stop all acts provoking and slandering each other, urged the south Korean authorities to make a bold political decision to cancel the projected Key Resolve and Foal Eagle and take practical measures to prevent a nuclear disaster, the article said.

Whoever is concerned for the life and security of people will not turn down the crucial proposal of the north, it noted, urging the south Korean authorities to respond to the proposal as early as possible.

It is only the U.S. that will benefit from the escalated tension on the Korean peninsula, the article said, calling for building up peace-loving public opinion to have the projected military drills cancelled.
