Minju Joson Blasts US for Sparking Worldwide Nuclear Arms Race
Pyongyang, February 4 (KCNA) -- The U.S. has stockpiled about 7,400 nuclear warheads of various types at present and 2 130 of which are ready for use in actions, according to a report "2014 U.S. nuclear energy" released by the U.S. magazine Bulletin of Atomic Scientist.

Minju Joson Tuesday observes in a commentary in this regard:

The U.S. is making desperate efforts to turn the world into a unipolar one dominated by it, styling itself the "world's only superpower" since the demise of the Cold War era.

The U.S. has touted much about the "building of a world without nuclear weapons" in face of the protest and denunciation from the world peace-loving people but stepped up the moves for modernizing the nuclear weapons behind the scene, the commentary notes, and goes on:

Regarding nukes as the most powerful means for carrying out its strategy for world domination, Washington is going in the direction of equipping the aging nukes with latest technology and replacing them with improved new type nukes.

Having deployed 60 percent of the nuclear submarines in the Asia-Pacific region including the waters around the Korean peninsula, it has in place a prompt nuclear strike system aimed at its targets.

The U.S. nuclear arms build-up in the region prompts those countries in it to take military counter-measures, sparking off a worldwide nuclear arms race.

All facts go to clearly prove that the U.S. is the arch criminal posing a nuclear threat and sparking off arms race, throwing humankind into constant nuclear horror.

In case a nuclear disaster occurs, the U.S. will not be safe either.

The U.S. would be well advised not to fool the international community but to genuinely opt for denuclearization, concludes the commentary.
