Steel Makers in DPRK Boost Production
Pyongyang, January 29 (KCNA) -- Many projects have been pushed forward in metallurgical industry of the DPRK, one of twin mainstays in building an economic giant.

Under the slogan of putting the metallurgical industry on a Juche-oreinted and modern basis, steel makers are directing efforts to boosting production with locally available raw materials and fuel and on the basis of latest science and technologies.

They are also paying deep attention to keeping all equipment in full-capacity operation and expanding production capacity.

Measures have been taken to solve the scientific and technical problems in the production.

The Chollima Steel Complex has introduced new technologies in rolling heating furnaces, while boosting steel production.

The Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex, after fulfilling its monthly quota ahead of schedule, is putting spurs to updating the hot rolling process, keeping production going at a high rate.

Increased production is also reported from the Musan Mining Complex, the Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex and Jaeryong and Unryul mines.

The Posan Iron Works and Chongjin Steel Plant are concentrating their efforts on the projects to modernize and repair rotary kilns.

The Hungnam Terminal Factory is pressing ahead with the completion of a process for producing electrode press, a decisive link in localizing the production of electrode for UHP electric arc furnace.
