Seminar on Juche Idea Held in Japan
Pyongyang, January 20 (KCNA) -- A seminar took place in Okinawa on January 12 on the subject "How to uphold independence this year - seminar on the Juche idea to carve out future."

Present at the seminar were figures of the Japanese Society for the Study of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism, Japanese National Liaison Council of Societies for the Study of the Juche Idea, Japan Committee for Supporting the Independent and Peaceful Reunification of Korea and the International Institute of the Juche Idea, other followers of the Juche idea from across Japan and people of various circles in Okinawa.

Seiichi Sakugawa, president of the Japanese National Liaison Council of Societies for the Study of the Juche Idea who is representative of the Okinawa Liaison Council for the Study of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism, referred to the situation in Okinawa where accidents are occurring ceaselessly and peaceful life is exposed to threats due to the U.S. military base. He accused the Japanese government of kowtowing to the U.S. but paying no heed to voice of the residents in Okinawa demanding the withdrawal of the U.S. military base.

It is very important to follow the Juche idea in deciding the Okinawa issue by the residents in the prefecture responsible for the issue, he noted.

Kenichi Taira, deputy representative of the Okinawa Liaison Council for the Study of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism, blamed the government for kowtowing to the U.S., bereft of independence as a sovereign state.

Kinhide Mushakoji, advisor to the Japanese Society for the Study of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism, said that Japan is now divided over the policy of the Japanese government rushing headlong into militarism and the demands of the people for independence and peace. He called upon the independent forces to pool their efforts and build new Asia in solidarity with Asian peoples.

Fumihiro Himori, chairman of the Japan Committee for Supporting the Independent and Peaceful Reunification of Korea, denounced the present government for having consistently pursued the policy of war.

In order to reject the "theory of threat from the DPRK" and promote dialogue, it is important to conduct a positive movement for the Japan-DPRK friendship, he added.
