Rodong Sinmun Calls for Developing Friendly Ties on Principle of Respect for Independence
Pyongyang, January 16 (KCNA) -- It is the firm stand of the Workers' Party of Korea and the government of the DPRK to boost friendship with all countries and people aspiring after independence and it is a necessary and right choice required by the present international situation.

Rodong Sinmun Thursday observes this in an article.

It is an important requirement of the global cause of independence to boost the international relations of friendship and cooperation on the principles of independence, equality, mutual respect and non-interference in other's internal affairs, the article says, and goes on:

It is the invariable stand of the DPRK to develop good relations, friendship and cooperation with all countries that respect its sovereignty and are friendly to it.

The DPRK has remained unchanged in its stand to have normal state relations with the countries that respect its sovereignty and are friendly to it even though they had been in inglorious relationship with it in the past.

The same can be said of the ties with the U.S.

Whether the armistice state and warring relations are terminated between the DPRK and the U.S. and durable peace is ensured on the Korean Peninsula or not, they depend on the U.S. attitude.

Washington should roll back its hostile policy against the DPRK if it sincerely wants to defuse the tension, ensure peace on the peninsula and improve the relations with the DPRK. The DPRK will, in the future too, open and develop the relations of friendship and cooperation with all countries of the world that respect its sovereignty and take a friendly approach towards it and thus make a positive contribution to shattering the imperialist aggressor forces' war policies and hegemonic machinations, championing peace and achieving global independence.
