DPRK's Classic Still Popular among World People
Pyongyang, January 15 (KCNA) -- Some time ago, China's newspaper Heilongjiang Xinwen introduced the Korean film "The Flower Girl".

The film was adapted from the revolutionary opera "The Flower Girl", written by President Kim Il Sung in Juche 19 (1930) when he was waging an anti-Japanese struggle.

This immortal classic is still winning popularity among the Chinese and other world people.

In 2008 alone, "The Flower Girl" as an opera was performed more than 20 times in 10-odd cities of China, including Shanghai, Wuhan and Tianjin, after its premiere at the State Grand Theatre in Beijing, drawing many spectators. And its additional performance was given in Beijing again to meet the strong demand of Chinese people.

Created as a masterpiece under the energetic guidance of leader Kim Jong Il, the revolutionary opera left a deep impression on peoples in Italy, France and other Western European countries, to say nothing of former socialist countries in East Europe, in the 1970s.

In 1979, the opera was performed in Paris, drawing a great number of people even from Americas. At that time mass media in France reported that the world enjoyed the performance even if it was given in Paris.
