Victims to Spy-ring Case in Period of Yusin Dictatorship Declared Not Guilty in S. Korea
Pyongyang, January 13 (KCNA) -- Victims to the spy-ring case of Ullung Island fabricated in the period of "yusin" dictatorship in south Korea were declared not guilty, according to KBS of south Korea Saturday.

The case was cooked up by the then puppet Central Intelligence Agency on March 15, 1974, when it kicked up a smear campaign detaining the members of the North Kyongsang Provincial Committee of the Revolutionary Party for Reunification and its affiliated organizations and claiming it detected "a spy group of the north".

In this regard, the Agency arrested scores of workers, peasants, fishermen, teachers, clergymen and politicians on Ullung Island, in Seoul, Taegu, Pusan, rural areas of North Jolla Province and other places and sentenced at least 30 of them to death and heavy penalties.

The crimes in the period of "yusin" dictatorship can never be covered up no matter how much water may flow under the bridge as all sorts of smear campaigns were staged under various pretexts in the period for the purpose of maintaining the power. Criminals are sure to face punishment by the nation.
