Bamboo Craft "Peacock", Gift to Kim Il Sung
Pyongyang, January 6 (KCNA) -- On display at the International Friendship Exhibition House in the DPRK is bamboo craft "Peacock", a gift presented to President Kim Il Sung by the general secretary of the C.C., Communist Party of India (Marxist) on the occasion of his 80th birthday (April 15, 1992).

The general secretary, who had revered the President as an elder leader of the international labor movement, had the honor with the audience of the President and received important teachings from him during his visits to the DPRK.

He made a deep study of Kim Il Sung's famous works to learn after the experience the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) gained in leading the revolution and construction.

Out of deep reverence for the President, he and leading officials of his party decided to present a gift of best wishes to the President on that occasion and prepared the bamboo craft depicting peacock, the national bird of India.

The bamboo craft shows a peacock in its pride with beautiful markings of plumage.

He handed the gift over to the head of his party delegation to visit Pyongyang, expressing his regretfulness for not presenting the gift to Kim Il Sung by himself. Saying that the gift represents the reverence of all his party members, he asked the head of the delegation to convey it to the President with best wishes.
