KCTU Members Vow to Force Present Regime to Step Down
Pyongyang, January 6 (KCNA) -- More than 1 300 members of the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) and other citizens held a meeting at Seoul Square on Jan. 4 to vow to frustrate the suppression of the labor movement, check privatization and force the present regime to step down.

At the meeting speakers denounced the police's forcible entry into the headquarters of the KCTU in December last year and its violence there as an unprecedented tyranny and suppression of the labor movement.

They expressed the will to turn out in an action to force the present "government" to step down as it regards the workers as enemy.

They called on all unionists to get united to stage a general strike and foil the authorities' crackdown on the labor movement.

They would wage a persistent general strike targeting the chief executive as they did by joining the Railway Trade Union in its action against privatization, they held.

The participants in the meeting held a memorial service for Ri Nam Jong who burned himself to death on December 31 last year demanding the resignation of the puppet chief executive and the probe into the truth about the illegal election.
