Nationwide Drive for Reunification Called for
Pyongyang, January 5 (KCNA) -- The Commonwealth of Independent States Regional Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification on Thursday made public a statement calling for fully implementing the tasks for national reunification set forth by Marshal Kim Jong Un in his New Year Address.

The statement said:

Kim Jong Un said that all the Korean people in the north and the south and abroad should achieve solid unity under the truly patriotic banner, in the idea of By Our Nation Itself, and turn out in the nationwide struggle for the reunification of the country. By doing so, they should open up a new phase for independent reunification, peace and prosperity this year, he added.

National reunification is the lifelong wishes and behests of the great Generalissimos Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and the urgent task which should never be delayed any longer.

We will reject outside forces and firmly preserve the idea of By Our Nation Itself and wage an unflinching struggle to implement the June 15 Joint Declaration and the October 4 declaration, a landmark for national reunification and peace and prosperity.

We will actively turn out in the nationwide struggle for protecting security and peace of the nation and resolutely frustrating the confrontation and war moves of warmongers at home and abroad.

It is the prerequisite for bringing about earlier national reunification to provide atmosphere for mending the relations between the north and the south.

The south Korean authorities should not be bent on reckless moves for confrontation with fellow countrymen and campaign for eliminating the "forces following the north", but lend an ear to the voice of Koreans demanding independence, democracy and national reunification and opt for improving the north-south relations.

We believe that national reunification will surely be achieved despite all sorts of ordeals and difficulties.
